摘要: Background and aims. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible effects obesity on local (salivary) systemic TNF-α IL-6 levels in patients with chronic periodontitis (CP). Materials methods. This included 88 subjects assigned four groups 22 each, as follows: group O+P+ (patients CP), O-P+ normal weight O+P- (periodontally healthy obesity), control group, O-P- weight). Serum salivary samples were obtained a week before recording clinical periodontal parameters. Local determined biochemically. Results. In serum saliva, both lowest (P < 0.05). highest observed while only statistically significant Conclusion. Obesity upregulated IL-6. periodontitis, who also obese, saliva significantly high. might play destructive provocative role pathogenesis by negatively affecting levels.
