摘要: OBJECTIVES: Alcohol consumption is known to increase the risk for several cellular disorders like oral cancer. The may be reinforced by polymorphism in genes alcohol dehydrogenase. Therefore, this study designed asses polymorphic status ADH1B (formerly ADH2), ADH1C ADH3) and MTHFR order correlate susceptibility squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). SUBJECTS AND METHODS: DNA from 126 OSCC samples were amplified using primers ADH1B, genes. amplicons analyzed ADH1B*1, ADH1C*2 C677T allelic restriction digestion appropriate enzymes. RESULTS: ADH1B*1/*1 genotype cancer patients who heavy drinkers showed a negligible association with an odds ratio of 1.62; 95% CI = 1.08-2.14. In patients, ADH1C*2/*2 genotypes relatively higher (odds 2.65; 1.78-3.53) less significant (1.6; 1.15-2.03) moderate light (1.23; 0.77-1.63). contrast, 677TT high 3.0; 2.02-4.0). Interestingly, combination ADH1B*1/*1/ alcoholic 4.16; 2.78-5.53). A similar 1.18-5.53) was shown ADH1B*1/*2/*2/*2MTHFR combination. /MTHFR maximum 20; 13.45-26.64) drinker group. This 5.88; 4.24-7.50) lower 2.77; 1.74-3.68). CONCLUSIONS: ADH1C*2/*2/MTHFR appears more susceptible OSCC, since it 20-fold 5.9- 2.8-fold respectively drinkers. suggests as factor alcoholics.
