摘要: Neisseria meningitidis is a leading cause of bacterial meningitis and other serious infections worldwide. The epidemiological profile N. highly changeable, with great differences in disease incidence serogroup distribution. Six serogroups (namely A, B, C, W-135, X, Y) are responsible for most cases meningococcal worldwide; the caused by each unique. No vaccine available endemic B strains. Two tetravalent (A/C/Y/ W-135) vaccines licensed United States: purified polysaccharide product polysaccharide-protein conjugate vaccine. recommended all adolescents, although coverage remains low, groups at high risk infection. A comprehensive program to prevent invasive States will require vaccination infants; several infants may become near future. Broadly protective also needed.
