摘要: The effects of elevated CO 2 concentration on plant transpiration and water use efficiency were studied in maize (Zea mays L.). Data concerned both the daytime entire crop life cycle. Maize plants grown two separate compartments a ventilated greenhouse. first had normal ambient ; second was enriched to about double level. Two periods studied, 1992 1993, with continuous enrichment from seed harvest. Continuous measurements carried out by plant. Daily increased leaf growth. Doubling induced decrease daily transpiration. Over life, mean 17%. cumulated 17% too. 23% increase (dry weight / transpiration). There no difference grain production. Thus, it is suggested that biomass could be explained needs.
