The enhancing effect of mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymer PBPCS on epoxy resin

摘要: The mixtures of mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymers (MJLCP) and epoxy resin (E-51) have been prepared in a certain proportion. category the MJLCP is poly{2, 5-bis[(4-butoxyphenyl) oxycarbonyl] styrenes} (PBPCS). Methyl tetrahydro phthalic anhydride (MeTHPA) served as curing agent, N, N-dimethylbenzylamine plays role catalyst. Then, based on process, modified materials acquired by casting molding. effect PBPCS's improvement has researched through mechanical properties test, dynamic thermal test scanning electron microscope (SEM). results indicated that PBPCS could apparently improve E-51. Compared with unmodified materials, elongation at break tensile strength improved remarkably modification. Both 4wt% PBPCS/E-51/MeTHPA were enhanced 48% 153% separately, characteristics 3wt% one raised 47% 19% respectively. Also, ductile fracture morphology resins was exhibited SEM photograph clearly.
