摘要: The Shin-Onomichi Bridge, completed in 1999, is a steel cable-stayed bridge which leads onto the Nishi-Seto Expressway. It connects city of Onomichi, Honshu, with island Mukaishima, serving as an entryway from Honshu to Shikoku. In planning on it was important consider its aesthetic qualities and wind stability combination parallel existing bridge. Onomichi built 1968, three-span center span 215 meters. At time completion, this forerunner large-scale bridges Japan. where located tourist attraction, consideration needed for fact that has contributed greatly scenic appearance city. addition, resistance expected be problematic long length, great deal study devoted resistance. Another issue reduce initial investment required maintenance cost. To end, new system introduced protect inside box girder corrosion. Though girders are generally painted inside, case bridge, dehumidified instead painting prevent corrosion while saving costs.
