摘要: Peaks in red-backed vole (Clethrionomys rutilus) populations are associated with high survival the previous winter and we tested hypothesis that persistence is determined by food supply. We supplied sunflower seeds to voles a replicated design during two consecutive years. The study began when were at peak density pattern of change was one decline low over first followed constant densities. Food addition increased individuals slightly significantly second winter. Despite higher numbers spring greater production young on grids, densities did not increase autumn. conclude additions created local patches density, but these too small have widespread effects dynamics area.
