Labour law, social Norms and the early retirement decision : An empirical study

摘要: The study examines the influence of values, social norms and labour law security institutions on decision to exit market give up job even some income for early retirement. paper analyses transitions out work into various alternative routes retirement including unemployment disability, using comparative panel data in 23 countries Baltic States many East-European countries. come from EU-SILC 2005-2008, matched with EVS 2008. results confirm well-known impact generosity old-age pensions but also show individual values norms. Benefit has a larger low-skilled than high-skilled. effects statutory age as set by regulations appear differ gender not education or skill level. Social have substantial effect which is however shown be different men women instances more important high skilled worker worker, whereas commonly shared society such ethos exerts stronger low workers’ decision.
