摘要: Significant changes in the global political climate during late 1980s sparked off dramatic enthusiasm for democratisation which swept across much of developing world. Previously authoritarian governments, through combined pressures from both external and internal arenas began to topple, be replaced by regimes organised along liberal democratic lines. Internally, public reacted corrupt repressive tactics a predatory patron-client state system had continually failed operate accordance with societal needs, street riots, strikes other outbursts discontent as result.
