摘要: After briefly reviewing recent trends in US remarriage rates this paper focuses on the variation these as measured 1980 and 1985 June Current Population Surveys. For data quality reasons it observed 5 years before each of surveys. It begins by discussing demographic composition separation cohorts a factor affecting ultimately structure remarriages. next examines proportional hazard estimates differentials rates. Finally using life-table procedures draws out some important implications differing estimating expected proportions who will ever remarry. The rate has declined among divorced women all ages though declines were greatest under age 25 at time divorce--56% between 1965 1980. slight recovery since may well reflect changing produced radical drop 1st marriage 25. Increasing cohabitation over last 2 decades also have played role declining Only 15% marital disruptions occurred to 40. Substantially lower are for whose lasted longer but effects completely eliminated when other variables particular controlled. Age factors what matters not experience or habits. findings indicate that is approximately quarter with children than childless women. Remarriage less common blacks whites.
