摘要: A survey of 96 sites in a range riparian habitats the catchments five rivers during June-August 1998 used bait tube method to investigate geographical distribution and habitat occurrence Water Shrews (Neomys fodiens) Weald South-East England. were found at 42% sites, widely distributed all river except Mole. They occurred many habitats, including rivers, streams, canals ditches, with physical biotic characteristics. There no signs avoidance response human disturbance but absent from catchment lowest water quality. Logistic regression analysis was model effect variables on presence Shrews, current speed, depth, bank incline bank-side vegetation identified as important variables. Fast-flowing shallow waters had significant positive their presence, whereas scarce herbaceous low negative effect. These appear be reliable indicators probability finding particular site, have implications for management conservation.
