摘要: Background and purpose Xerostomia is an important chronic side effect of radiotherapy in the head neck area. The authors investigated efficacy different artificial saliva compounds patients with postirradiation xerostomia. Patients methods In 120 xerostomia after for cancer, four substitute (gel, carmellose spray, oil, mucin spray) were tested a prospective crossover design. at baseline under treatment each compound was measured questionnaire approved pilot trial. Results All significantly improved when compared to situation (p Conclusion For most considerable relief from can be reached by substitutes. Thus, every patient should given test period. This will help find individually best way cope dry mouth.
