POTENTIAL AND FACTORS AFFECTING ECOTOURISM IN SRI LANKA

摘要: Tourism in Sri Lanka has a strong, still growing role earning foreign exchange and creating new employment. However, if adequate safeguards are not taken, present mass tourism could give rise to serious problems of environmental degradation. The cost servicing is very high due its heavy dependency on imported items. Further, the rich industrialized tourist generating countries have control hotel chains, international air lines, tour agencies etc. Thus it questionable whether real beneficiaries this third world like or nations who dominate above mentioned services. main objective study was identify potential for developing nature factors affecting such lanka. field survey conducted during period October 1994 February 1995 using questionnaires prepared English, French German. Both non-parametric data presentation regression analysis were employed analysis. This concludes that there significant development Lanka. Nature proven be less demanding terms accommodation standards more regarding information about destination. Social conflicts can also avoided when local people get involved managing protected areas through tourism. It concluded recommended pilot project basis after evaluation, decisions further taken.
