摘要: Abstract : We report the completion of Phase II a technological development program for production living muscle mechanical actuators robotic and prosthetic applications. Our primary objectives were to engineer skeletal in culture using integrated bioreactors guide tissue maintain contractility, achieve 50% adult phenotype muscular then install engineered muscles into centimeter-scale hybrid swimming platform. Outcomes by milestone: (1) Develop bioreactor systems: completed all but bulk perfusion (2) appropriate interfaces culture: full success, muscle-tendon & nerve (3) Achieve functional capacity: excellent progress not (4) Swimming platform with muscle: success due inadequate performance Overall, this project resulted many planned collateral advances, including sub-cm scale cardiac powered actuators, tendon interfaces, rapid manufactured improved contractility.
