摘要: The kolam is a traditional hand-drawn art form in Tamil Nadu and South India comprised of many subfamilies. Kolam patterns are most commonly drawn with chalk or rice powder by women on the thresholds homes temples significant cultural importance society. Academic investigations have used different terms for pattern types. I introduce global typology types, present an extension to square loop (SLK) studied past. Square composed initial orthogonal matrix dots, defining space around which curving lines complete one loops. SLK can be decomposed into gestures made artist’s hand, previous studies created sequential languages represent patterns. Prior limited gestural lexicon could not account diversity produced artists. current paper introduces expanded kolams, describes system digitization using this expandable language.
