摘要: Pharmacogenomics and its predecessor pharmacogenetics study the contribution of genetic factors to interindividual variability in drug efficacy safety. One major goals pharmacogenomics is tailor drugs individuals based on their makeup molecular profile. From early findings 1950s uncovering inherited deficiencies metabolism that explained drug-related adverse events, nowadays genome-wide approaches assessing variation multiple genes, has come a long way. The evolution paralleled genotyping technologies, completion human genome sequencing HapMap project. Despite these advances, implementation clinical practice yet been limited. Here we present an overview history current applications patient selection, dosing, development with illustrative examples categories. Some challenges field future perspectives are also presented.
