摘要: The influence of carotid stenosis and its surgical treatment on brain function is still poorly defined. We therefore performed a study to assess psychometric quantified EEG findings after endarterectomy (CEA). Sixty-nine non-demented patients (aged 72 ± 7 years) with severe (≥70 %) eligible for CEA were studied. Forty (group A) had unilateral stenosis, 29 B) bilateral stenosis. Before 5 months all the evaluated by Trail Making Test A, Symbol Digit Test, spectral analysis. At baseline, compared group B slowly A (Z: 1.45 1.4 vs. 0.76 1.3; p < 0.05), but not 0.83 1.38 0.64 1.26; = 0.59). Altogether, at least one abnormal test % A: 26 %; B: 33 %, 0.56). did differ significantly between B. After CEA, tests improved (mean Z score from 0.73 1.12 0.45 1.15, 0.05). improvement was similar in mean dominant frequency only it related (r 0.43, Low performance detectable about 1/ 3 mental and, accelerated frequency.
