摘要: Transport and geochemical processes controlling the chemical isotopic composition of pore waters in upper 45 m a thick, surficial, clay-rich till (Battleford Formation) were studied. The 3 is oxidized fractured. remaining 77 (the aquitard) nonfractured unoxidized. Concentrations total dissolved solids, SO42−, Na+, Mg2+, K+ decrease with depth through unoxidized zone to about 15 below ground, which concentrations remain constant. A similar trend was observed for alkalinity; however, concentration occurs over 20 m. In contrast these ions, Ca2+ increase 20-m zone, relatively distribution ions shows presence two end-members: elevated solute attributed weathering that occurred since start Holocene connate Pleistocene-age water at depths between Abiotic biotic reaction rates aquitard shown be extremely slow or not occurring.
