摘要: The initial research on serum paraoxonase (PON1) centered its ability to hydrolyze arylesters such as phenylacetate organophosphorus and compounds paraoxon, from whence it received name. Despite early evidence that paraoxon were hydrolyzed by the same enzyme, was many years before all of various groups accepted this point (see Chapter 1). In more recent has become known about natural physiological role PON1. This PON1 appears involve metabolism oxidized lipids non-toxic metabolites, thus contributing prevention vascular disease Chapters 3-6). summary chapter, we examine future directions in may shed further light different facets function well xenobiotics, including drugs.
