摘要: d-Isoproterenol (ISO) applied topically to the rabbit eye specifically lowered intraocular pressure. Thus, it effectively reduced normal pressure and inhibited elevation induced by water load without causing other obvious local or systemic pharmacologic effects. By comparison, dl-ISO was pharmacologically nonspecific in that amounts required reduce also produced significant marked tachycardia. Furthermore, maximal reduction less with dl-than d-ISO. Accordingly, consideration of reported clinical experience glaucomatous man, d-isomer should be preferred form ISO for treating glaucoma. d-ISO offer advantages over any topical medication used currently treatment this condition. Toxicity studies employing large, doses drug eyes showed free from ocular irritation as well toxicologic effects safe controlled man.
