摘要: Nitrogen dioxide is one of the U. S. EPA s criteria pollutants, and main ingredients needed for production ground-level ozone. Both ozone nitrogen cause severe public health problems. Existing satellites have begun to produce observational data sets dioxide. Under NASAs Earth Science Applications Program, we examined relationship between satellite observations surface monitor this air pollutant examine if can be used facilitate a more capable integrated observing network. This report provides comparison tropospheric column concentration period from September 1996 through August 1997 at than 300 individual locations in continental US. We found that spatial resolution observation time did not capture variability as measured ground level. The tools processes developed conduct study will applied analysis advanced observations. One instrument has significantly better measurements studied here operates with an afternoon overpass time, providing representative distribution once-per-day sampling photochemically active atmospheric constituent.
