Global health competencies and approaches in medical education: a literature review

摘要: Physicians today are increasingly faced with healthcare challenges that require an understanding of global health trends and practices, yet little is known about what constitutes appropriate training. A literature review was undertaken to identify competencies educational approaches for teaching in medical schools. Using a pre-defined search strategy, 32 articles were identified; 11 describing 15 undergraduate training found. The most frequently mentioned included of: the burden disease, travel medicine, disparities between countries, immigrant health, primary care within diverse cultural settings skills better interface different populations, cultures systems. However, no consensus on students apparent. Didactics experiential learning common methods used, 12 13 respectively. Of discussing competencies, 8 linked directly approaches. This highlights imperative document used schools need facilitate greater amongst educators future physicians.
