摘要: Abstract A new plant type (NPT) has been developed at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) using tropical japonica germplasm in an attempt to increase yields. In direct contrast high yielding indicas, which have large numbers of tillers and relatively small panicles, NPT panicles low tiller numbers. To determine whether had a higher potential for spikelet production, possibly yield, than elite indica, total number juvenile spikelets (glumous flower primordia) was determined plants grown field as crop or widely spaced. The maximum produced by temporal pattern hill recorded time late differentiation each tiller’s panicle. greater spaced it decreased linearly with age. For approximately one per square centimeter leaf area. 1997, were lost before harvest, that increased significantly wetter year 1999. quantify yield its reduction loss between mature stages, harvest filled fraction (grains) simple empirical model constructed. predicted if all be transformed into grains more double actual would crops indicas NPT, suggesting source strength rather sink size limited this study. Differences could offset differences individual grain weight percentage filling spikelets. Even rice applications fertilizer, current atmospheric concentrations CO2, yields are supply resources necessary development synthesis capacity. is almost actually realized, even though productive do not reach their full production compared plants.
