Seismic performance of earth-core and concrete-faced rock-fill dams by large-scale shaking table tests

摘要: Abstract Two of China's highest earth-core rock-fill dams (ECRDs) and concrete-faced (CFRDs) were simulated by large-scale earthquake simulation shaking table tests in this work. A series staged performed, including white noise, different types excitations with magnitudes etc. The seismic performance the ECRD CFRD models analyzed investigated. test results indicated that reservoir impoundment influenced structure characteristics model much more than model. average fundamental frequency decreased less when subjected to strong excitation. acceleration amplification factors as input peak increased. maximum occurred at top model, while it 0.6–0.9 dam height Seismic residual deformations two very small. When excitation, deformation was smaller dominant failure pattern shallow sliding 3/4 on downstream slope. above analysis superior ECRD.
