摘要: In the present study, single crystals of benzimidazole (BMZ) possessing excellent nonlinear optical properties were grown for first time by recently invented Sankaranarayanan−Ramasamy (SR) method at 25 °C using a constant temperature bath. High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) analysis indicates that crystalline perfection is without having any low/very low angle internal structural grain boundaries. Single-crystal XRD confirms ingot belongs to orthorhombic crystal system with space group Pna21. Thermogravimetric/differential thermal (TG/DTA) single-stage weight loss observed 165 °C. Also, it has been found birefringence measured over wide wavelength range between 5200 and 6860 A nearly showing BMZ are suitable efficient second harmonic generation polarization devices.
