摘要: Abstract Although less-than-fee acquisition (the purchase of development rights) has been used in several large-scale public programs to preserve open space rural areas, its use by government urban fringe areas under stronger pressure limited. Based on an analysis the few ongoing programs, cost and management questions are examined here light alternative methods preserving land for purposes conservation, scenery, agriculture other compatible uses. Nothing is found inherently wrong with concept acquisition: proper conditions it can be a viable method urbanizing areas.
