摘要: Abstract A computer controlled cage-culture turbidostat (CCT) is described as an alternative to batch algal bioassays. The CCT designed monitor growth changes in response the addition of toxicants including chronic toxic effects comparison culture toxicity tests which are most successful assessing acute responses. system easily and quickly set up, with minimum operator time required once assembled. alga Phaeodactylum tricornutum (CCAP 1052/6) was used test species. Stable could be maintained for 14 days, sufficient run bioassay experiments using both herbicide Diuron ™ (DCMU) a complex industrial effluent. Additions various concentrations toxins chamber caused rate chl- concentration culture. Median Inhibitory Concentration effluent calculated cause 50% reduction (IC 50 ) estimated 0.33 μ M DCMU, 15.33% Comparable results were obtained when standard inhibition (AGIT) test, 72 h-IC values 0.09 DCMU 16.4% This study indicates potential use water quality monitoring, may provide more environmentally relevant information than commonly AGIT test.
