摘要: The purpose of this study was to compare hospital charges for carotid endarterectomy on a surgeon-specific basis. cost is influenced by preoperative evaluation, operating time, use the intensive care unit, length stay, and surgical results. Length stay average 18 doctors performing 344 endarterectomies at three hospitals were analyzed. Outcome data also reviewed. results demonstrated wide variation in among surgeons. Surgeons using most cost-effective measures achieved comparable or superior outcomes. In an era managed care, severe constraints mandate that surgeons perform similar studies their own communities so clinical pathways can be developed. With appropriate guidelines, performed relatively low without sacrificing quality.
