摘要: Three distinct reproductive patterns are exhibited by mustelids. Some species (ferret and least weasel) breed during spring summer do not exhibit delayed implantation. Others (mink striped skunk) variable gestation periods with brief of implantation occurring only if the females mated early in season. Most mustelids (western spotted skunk, badgers, marten, wolverine, etc.) always a prolonged period lasting several months. In such species, luteal cells fail to undergo complete differentiation embryonic diapause. The process differentiation, which involves doubling cell size, extensive production smooth endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondrial changes, is accompanied increased progesterone secretion, occurs few days before coincides renewed development. Attempts induce injecting have failed, suggesting that other ovarian hormones required nidation. Changes photoperiod will hasten or delay development, secretion Hypophysectomy time function prevents whereas hysterectomy has no effect on secretion. This indicates pituitary final steps administration exogenous gonadotrophic been inconclusive. Prolactin may be important regulating mink ferrets but less significant as skunk European badger.
