摘要: OBJECTIVE: To assess the association between dietary intake and central obesity among people living with HIV/AIDS receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 223 adult individuals in city of Sao Paulo 2002. The population classified according to obesity, defined as waist-to-hip ratio >0.95 for men >0.85 women. variables studied were energy consumption (in calories calories/kilo body weight), macronutrients grams % intake), total fiber (grams) fruit vegetables (grams). potential confounders examined sex, skin color, age, schooling, income, mass index, physical activity, smoking habits, peripheral CD4+ T lymphocyte count length protease inhibitor use. multiple logistic regression model performed order evaluate intake. RESULTS: prevalence 45.7% it associated greater lipids: every increase 10g lipid odds increased 1.28 times. Carbohydrate showed negative (OR=0.93) after adjustment control variables. CONCLUSIONS: results suggest that amount carbohydrates lipids diet, regardless intake, may modify chance developing population. Nutritional interventions be beneficial preventing patients.
