摘要: Bacteria that disproportionate elemental sulfur fractionate isotopes such sulfate is enriched in sulfur-34 by 12.6 to 15.3 per mil and sulfide depleted 7.3 8.6 mil. Through a repeated cycle of oxidation S0 subsequent disproportionation, these bacteria can deplete sedimentary sulfides sulfur-34. A prediction, borne out observation, more extensive will lead are Thus, the oxidative part creates circumstances which become than would be possible with sulfate-reducing alone.
