摘要: Object. The authors retrospectively evaluated the safety and efficacy of a decompression fixation technique in treatment patients with multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). Methods. describe “hybrid fixation” technique, procedure involving combination corpectomies discectomies to preserve vertebra intact within area decompression, thus augmenting mechanical stability. reviewed outcomes 25 CSM whom hybrid was performed between 1999 2003. Twelve underwent single-level corpectomy three-level discectomies. In 13 two-level adjacent four-level were conducted, leaving vertebral bridge middle. All fusion placement disc body cages filled autogenous local bone supplemental anterior dynamic plate fixation. mean preoperative Nurick grade 3 improvement status reflected by postoperative decrease 2.6 (p , 0.05). one patient neurological deterioration demonstrated. At end follow-up period (mean 29 months) radiography revealed evidence osseous 24 patients; could not be determined patient. No late-onset instrumentation-related failure observed any patients. Conclusions. found safe efficient for CSM. use this obviates need staged circumferential procedures.
