摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter studies the genus Wickerhamiella. In determination of asexual reproduction it is seen that multilateral budding occurs on either a narrow or broad base. The cells are unusually small and range from spherical to ellipsoidal. Neither hyphae nor pseudohyphae produced. sexual found asci conjugated usually form single, roughened ascospore. spores elongate, basal ring may be formed. Asci become deliquescent at terminus, sometimes with flanged tubular outgrowth. also discusses physiology/biochemistry phylogenetic placement in which sugars not fermented nitrate assimilated by most species. Pellicles formed liquid media diazonium blue B reaction negative. type species taken Wickerhamiella domercqiae. among smallest known for yeasts. Equally unusual shape asci, dissolve terminally ascospore release. highly specialized nutritionally ecologically. Their stricted physiology strong association floricolous insects seem characteristic other members clade, includes number Candida eventually ascospores.
