摘要: INTRODUCTION In 2002, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute partnered with Health Resources Services Administration's (HRSA's) Bureau of Primary Care Office Rural Policy to address cardiovascular health in US-Mexico border region. From 2003 through 2005, 2 agencies agreed conduct an intervention program using Salud para su Corazon promotores de salud (community workers) high-risk Hispanic communities served by community centers (CHCs) region reduce risk factors improve behaviors. METHODS Promotores from each CHC delivered lessons curriculum Your Life. Four implemented a 1-group pretest-posttest study design. Educational sessions were for 3 months. To test Corazon-HRSA objectives, CHCs conducted assessed behavioral clinical outcomes at baseline, months, 6 12 months after intervention. A 2-sample paired t analyses variance used evaluate differences baseline postintervention. RESULTS Changes heart-healthy behaviors observed, as they have been previous studies, lending credibility effectiveness setting. Positive changes also observed low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, triglyceride waist circumference, diastolic blood pressure, weight, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
