摘要: A multi-pond saltern that creates a gradient of salt concentrations has been studied with respect to some characteristics the resulting environments and their microbial populations. The increase in concentration was correlated diurnal temperature biomass present decrease oxygen concentrations. Many types organisms below 15% (w/v) total salts, were found, many them normal inhabitants seawater even freshwater. Most over salts halophilic. comprised two ranges, each characterized by different First, between 15 30% populations ofDunaliella increased, reaching large numbers; moderately halophilic eubacteria fast-growing halobacteria predominated as heterotrophic microorganisms and, among first, thePseudomonas-Alteromonas-Alcaligenes group andVibrio more abundant taxonomic groups; gram-positive cocci appeared mainly 25% salts. Phototrophic bacteria, both oxygenic anoxygenic, also found this range, anoxygenic type,Chromatium species andRodospirillum salexigens probably predominant. Second, diversity decreased greatly, all at lower disappeared, instead developed. Over 50% only three found.
