摘要: Platforms are creating an entirely new blueprint for competition, one that puts ecosystems in head-to-head competition. This chapter lays a foundation introducing these ideas. It begins with overview of software platforms and how they changing the rules then identifies central elements platform their competitive environment. also clarifies what is not platform. describes five drivers migration toward variety technology nontechnology industries. These include need deepening specialization as firms struggle to deliver increasingly complex products services, “packetization”; baking routine business activities into across plethora industries; emergence Internet Things; growing ubiquity cheap, fast, untethered digital networks. The confluence can infuse properties services mundane non-technology industries, making industry agnostic.
