摘要: Tropical dry forests in South America are one of the less known ecosystems and they exhibit biggest annual losses forest cover. From a conservationist perspective, it has been proposed to use indicator groups such as dung beetles try understand seasonal dynamics species community structure these remnants. Sampling was performed during rainy seasons 2012 characterize composition beetle assemblage (Coleoptera: Scarabaeinae) permanent plot located University Magdalena, Santa Marta district (Magdalena - Colombia). Three sampling transects were set up parcel using pitfall traps baited with human dung. A total 5,001 individuals, corresponding 13 seven genera registered. The abundance Canthon variabilis two noteworthy. Although no significant differences between found, registered for richness. Of that we eight appeared exclusively season. absence Malagoniella astyanax Digitonthophagus gazella indicates an intermediate degree conservation. number matched values other studies carried out Caribbean region showing strong dynamic. Our results highlight is necessary continue this type studies, analyzing functional effects fragmentation fragment size ecosystem services processes.
