摘要: Eight years of ozone measurements retrieved from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument and Microwave Limb Sounder, both on EOS Aura satellite, have been assimilated into Goddard Earth Observing System Version 5 (GEOS-5) data assimilation system. This study evaluates this product, highlighting its potential for science. The impact observations GEOS-5 system is explored by examining spatial distribution observation-minus-forecast statistics. Independent are used product validation. correlation lower stratospheric (the tropopause to 50 hPa) column with ozonesondes 0.99 (high) bias 0.5%, indicating success in reproducing variability that layer. upper tropospheric (500 hPa tropopause) about 10% than ozonesonde column, but still high (0.87). shown realistically capture sharp cross-tropopause gradient mixing ratio. Occurrence transport-driven low laminae similar obtained High Resolution Dynamics Sounder (HIRDLS) above 400 K temperature surface, produces fewer seen HIRDLS below surface. Although 25% occurrences per day during 3 years data, interannual captured correctly. data-driven complementary fields generated chemistry transport models. Applications include radiative forcing tracer near tropopause.
