摘要: This paper examines the European Union (EU) biofuels and bioliquids sustainability scheme. It argues that ‘meta-standard’ approach adopted in EU scheme is an innovative addition to EU’s environmental governance toolkit. From a global perspective, meta-standard will aid process of streamlining proliferation certification schemes harmonizing standards. reduce transaction costs for producers promote growth sustainable industry. However, given close resemblance between heavy reliance on auditors placed designated operational entities (DOEs) Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), this same problems threaten integrity CDM verification are likely emerge therefore necessary reevaluate wisdom extensive voluntary perform monitoring functions.
