摘要: Abstract Purpose: The intra-aortic balloon pump has become an important tool in the management of patients with severe coronary artery disease. Although pump-induced thrombocytopenia was described more than 20 years ago, there been no prospective study this condition. Patients and Methods: In a consecutive adult intensive care admitted acute syndromes, we compared serial platelet counts 58 treated 51 who were not. All received intravenous heparin. Results: Clinical characteristics two groups similar, except that unstable angina frequent among patients. On each 6 days, mean significantly lower those non-pump Platelet (mean ± SD) decreased to nadir 63% 4% initial count on day 4, but subsequently stabilized. There only slight, transient decrease Overall, 47% developed (platelet 3 ) 12% ( P = 0.03). Removal associated rapid increase count. Conclusions: use led steady predictable count, which recovered rapidly if removed or slowly device remained place.
