摘要: Abstract This review synthesizes the Proterozoic and early Paleozoic geology of Tasmania, Bass Strait western central Victoria. We examine many different conflicting hypotheses that have been proposed to solve paradoxical relationships between Tasmanian mainland Australia, most notably prevalence basement while immediately across evidence rocks is much more cryptic. conclude Selwyn block model satisfactory hypothesis date, since it fits best with obvious patterns in magnetic gravity data. proposes Victorian Melbourne Zone underlain by northern extension thin Cambrian crust under Strait, Silurian Middle Devonian was shortened along a decollement during Tabberabberan Orogeny. The Ordovician eastern Tasmania correlate closely Tabberabbera than Victoria; however correlations are less certain. Major unresolved issues origins Early lithostratigraphic packages, tectonic models for their assembly Tyennan Orogeny, how these fit those Australia.
