Acoustic surface plasmons in type-II semiconducting superlattices

摘要: The spectrum of electronic collective excitations a semi-infinite type-II semiconducting superlattice contains two novel surface polariton branches, one which is an acoustic plasmon. As result the quantized nature motion within layers, this new type does not suffer Landau damping. branch particular interest because group velocity mode can be controlled by sample preparation, making these systems potentially useful for surface-wave devices.
