摘要: Currently, there is a worldwide boom of plans and proposals for heavy-ion storage rings with beam cooling. This has three main reasons: 1. Many accelerators are operating successfully all over the world; thus, lot experience in design, construction, operation such available; 2. The development new ion sources injectors (EBIS, EBIT, CRYEBIS, RFQ, etc.) yielded beams highly-charged ions near space-charge limit; 3. The invention methods to ‘cool beams’ achieve extremely high phase-space densities enabled experiments which would never have been performed before.
