摘要: We present a concept for 4000-fibre positioner DESpec, based on the Echidna ‘tilting spine’ technology. The DESpec focal plane is 450mm across and curved, required pitch ~6.75mm. size, number of fibers curvature are all comparable with various studies similar instruments already undertaken at AAO, but new challenges in combination. A simple, low-cost, highly modular design presented, consisting identical modules populated by spines. No show-stopping issues accommodating either or smaller have been identified, actuators consist largely off-the-shelf components. prototyped allow reconfiguration times ~15s to reach position errors 7 microns less. Straightforward designs metrology, acquisition, guiding also proposed. throughput losses entire system estimated be ~15%, which 6.3% attributable tilting-spine
