摘要: Reducing the risk of liability exposure and avoiding preventable injuries to mothers infants during labor birth can be relatively easy when all members perinatal care team (nurses, nurse-midwives, physicians) agree follow two basic tenets clinical practice: use applicable evidence and/or published standards guidelines as foundation for whenever a choice is presented, choose patient safety rather than production. Adhering these principles could theoretically eliminate need extensive overly detailed policy procedure manuals. Most clinicians feel have some written practice. A summary most common foci professional claims together with current from associations regulatory agencies provided. The purpose provide framework reviewing existing institutional protocols developing future policies that decrease minimize iatrogenic injury infants.
