摘要: What explains the course of Uyghur-related violence in Xinjiang and Central Asia since 1990? Using data derived from a variety sources, I argue that locations types violent incidents were influenced by combination Chinese government policies political geography Xinjiang. Specifically, 1990 to 1996 dominated logistically complex low-level campaign The Strike Hard brought about an increase simple some as Uyghur separatists had trouble moving people, information weapons across well-guarded, difficult terrain Xinjiang's borders.
