Resource selection by recolonizing American black bears in a fragmented forest landscape

摘要: Abstract Following functional extirpation in Missouri, American black bear (Ursus americanus) populations this state have been increasing recent years through recolonization from re-established northern Arkansas. To increase our understanding of resource selection by recolonizing bears the Ozark Highlands United States, we attached Global Positioning System (GPS) transmitters to 54 during May–August 2010–2013, and used location data based on biological seasons. We constructed models with anthropogenic (distance nearest development, distance road), (sex, age class, season), environmental water, land cover) categories. infinitely weighted logistic regression approximate inhomogeneous Poisson point process model for presence-only (i.e., GPS locations) fit models.
