摘要: The twentieth century has brought with it a radical shift in the relation between aging and work. Being economically active until final stages of life or at least as long one’s bodily mental performance allowed one to do so was rule pre-industrial Europe throughout nineteenth century. century, contrast, been experiencing continuing process dissociation work old age, which consists three interrelated dimensions: firstly, emergence retirement normal universal phase major element modern institutionalized course; secondly, considerable prolongation due long-lasting trend declining labor force participation by elderly men women; thirdly, an increasingly positive evaluation specific culture wide variety leisure activities plays important if not most role.
