摘要: In plants, male sterility can be caused either by mitochondrial genes with coupled nuclear or alone; the resulting conditions are known as cytoplasmic (CMS) and genic (GMS), respectively. CMS GMS facilitate hybrid seed production for many crops thus allow breeders to harness yield gains associated vigor (heterosis). CMS, layers of interaction between control its specificity, occurrence, restoration fertility. Environment-sensitive (EGMS) mutants may involve epigenetic noncoding RNAs revert fertility under different growth conditions, making them useful breeding materials in industry. Here, we review recent research on EGMS systems crops, summarize general models restoration, discuss evolutionary significance these reproductive systems.
