摘要: A multicomponent 3-D seismic survey was conducted by the Colorado School of Mines’ Reservoir Characterization Project over a coal bed methane reservoir near Cedar Hill, New Mexico. The purpose to characterize fractures in beds which are importance production natural gas. Primary objectives were determine dominant direction fracturing, variations fracture direction, and amount fracturing reservoir. Polarization analysis carried out on pre-stack data anisotropy, from may be infered. Statistical methods applied aid automated these data. established as northwest, agrees with that determined VSP. variance polarizations noted attributed spatial polarization directions poststack Comparison post-stack fault locations mapped P-wave indicates major faults separate zones variable aligned perpendicular dip where is significant. These findings consistent local stress caused wrench system. Significant degree anisotropy believed related coals.
